Very close race for the Tulsa city council district 3 seat
One contest in Tuesday's elections, the Tulsa City Council race in District 3, may still be disputed.

The News on 6's Rick Wells reports the final count was so close, emotions boiled over at the election board Tuesday night, and the end result may be a re-count. "Numbers started coming in from no where, and I just wanted to know how in the Hell they got those numbers."

There was a bit of a shouting match Tuesday night at the Tulsa County Election Board between Roscoe Turner and Election board Secretary Scott Orbison.

One of our news producers, Cindy Lewis was at her regular election night post and the confrontation was clearly out of the ordinary. "Nothing like that has ever happened when I've been down there before. I've never noticed any kind of confrontation."

Tuesday night was different, Roscoe Turner thought he had won, but the final results showed him losing by four votes. Tuesday night he said he'd ask for a re-count, but he hasn't yet. Most of my constituents I've talked to today are saying surely you're gonna ask for a re-count."

Re-counts are easier said than done. Shelly Boggs the Election Board Assistant Secretary says he has some options. It makes a difference if he asks for a manual recount or an electronic re-count and it makes a difference if he asks for both Tulsa and Rogers Counties."

It would cost either $1,200 or $1,800 and the candidate requesting the recount pays. Boggs says there were 20 under votes meaning 20 people voted in the presidential primary, but not in the council race.

Turner says maybe there are five votes among those 20, misread by the machines. There are other voting problems he has heard about too, it's all something he must consider. "This is something I've got to pray on. I've got to decide if it's worth it."

He has until Tuesday at 5 o'clock to decide. We tried to get a comment from the winner in District 3, David Patrick, but he didn't return our calls.
