AutoMARK Voter Assist Terminal Demonstration

1 December 04
Michael Nutt

The AutoMARK Voter Assist Terminal is a machine designed to allow voters who are blind, voters who need an audio presentation of a ballot, or voters who need a ballot in a language other than English to cast an optically-scanned ballot, using the same ballot as sighted voters. AutoMARK representative Rob Resuali came to the National Center for the Blind on November 15th to demonstrate the machine. NFB staff member Ameenah Ghoston volunteered to participate in this demonstration. Many different capabilities of the machine were demonstrated, including the ability to write in a candidate and the ability to review the ballot once it has been marked.

The vendor?s website can be found at www.automarkts.com. The NFB is currently negotiating the purchase of an AutoMARK VAT for use in the International Braille and Technology Center in Baltimore.
