"Myth Breakers Impact
VotersUnite! Alert #3. June 7, 004. Dear United Voters! Thanks to all of you who have delivered Myth Breakers! You may have noticed that the home page shows the number of copies that we know have been delivered to county officials. Connecticut, Oklahoma, and Montana are complete. Ohio and Maryland are nearly complete; and West Virginia, Virginia, Iowa, and Arkansas are in the hands of dedicated distributors. But that's not the whole story. Hundreds more have been handed to state and federal legislators, candidates for office, members of the media, and even Mr. Soaries, chairman of the Election Assistance Commission. So, we're going to start displaying these additional deliveries as well. Since we haven't been tracking all of them, we'd really appreciate it if you could send a list of those you have delivered to — US legislators, state legislators, Secretaries of State, media people, candidates for public office. Please send the names and positions of as many as you can remember. Thanks! Even after all your deliveries, there are news articles every day that indicate election officials are not informed about HAVA and the serious problems that electronic voting presents. They're making decisions based on misinformation. It's up to us to get the facts distributed. Here are some things you can do: 1) If you can't hand-deliver outside your own county, follow the distribution plan devised by West Virginia Citizens for HAVA. To read about their plan, click on the West Virginia image on the home page (http://www.votersunite.org). 2) Encourage all the people on your mailing list to go to VotersUnite.org, sign up as a member (http://www.votersunite.org/signup.asp), and sign up to deliver Myth Breakers to their counties (http://www.votersunite.org/takeaction/myth-signup1.asp). 3) Post the request to deliver Myth Breakers on blogs and bulletin boards (http://www.votersunite.org/takeaction/mythbreaker_alert1.htm). Check the info page (http://www.votersunite.org/info.asp) for a Power Point introduction to Myth Breakers, maps indicating the vvpb status of each state and the types of voting machines currently in use, and other information and ideas for publicizing your concerns about e-voting.
Thanks,
