efferson County to Recount Votes Monday Afternoon

The Jefferson County Elections office tells Hometown News there will be a recount of all primary election returns Monday afternoon. Hometown News first reported this information during a live news at four o`clock Monday afternoon.

Officials from the Republican and Democratic parties of Jefferson County will be at the county elections barn at 4:30 Monday afternoon to recount the votes.

This news comes after election officials noticed a discrepancy during a manual count of precincts randomly ed by the Secretary of State?s Office.

The discrepancy could affect roughly 4,000 democrat votes and 700 republican votes, according to the Chairs of the Republican and Democrat Parties of Jefferson County. They say those votes were cast on election day.

The recount is being paid for by the company who owns the electronic voting machines.
