Ballot machines for early voting down again today  (NC)

Voting machines at the Beaufort elections office are still down today for early voting in the Nov. 4 general election.

The early voting was scheduled to begin Monday, but the county elections received the incorrect password from the state for the ballot machines, according to the elections office.

Voters who showed up at the Beaufort office were told they could fill out paper absentee ballots. The office had said the machines would be running today, but now it is saying the machines won’t be ready until Wednesday.

The Hilton Head Island elections office was scheduled to begin early voting Wednesday but it is uncertain now when that will start.

The Beaufort and Hilton Head offices are the only two sites for early voting.
