Kenton halts handicapped accessible voting (KY)
Cincinnati.com. November 4, 2008. By Patrick Crowley

COVINGTON – The Kenton County Board of Elections has halted voting on handicapped accessible machines because they are not properly recording straight-ticket voting.

Voters began complaining about the problem early this morning, said Eileen Wendt, a board member.

Wendt said that straight-ticket voting in the State Senate race between Republican incumbent Jack Westwood and Democrat Kathy Groob was not being counted.

The board of elections quickly called an emergency meeting and made a decision to halt the voting and is now deciding issues such as how the votes will be counted and whether poll hours will be extended.

The county board is also in consultation with the state board of elections.
