Palm Beach County precinct problems (FL)
WPTV.com. Channel 5. November 4,2008. by Paige Kornblue

WEST PALM BEACH, FL Voters are reporting delays and machine problems at several voting locations across Palm Beach County.

The optical scanning machine was jammed at the West Palm Beach Fire Station precinct at 500 N. Dixie Highway for much of the morning.

Voters have had to place their paper ballots into cardboard boxes or the 'Emergency Ballot Box' underneath the machines.

Some voters tell us they are upset that they can't see that their vote will actually be counted.

The poll clerk tells News Channel 5 that Supervisor of Elections officials have been called to help fix the machine.

The West Palm Beach Library poll clerk says they also had problems with one of their machines Tuesday morning.

Poll workers say the machine jammed because two or three pieces of paper were placed inside the machine at the same time.

The poll clerk says he was able to fix the machine and it is now up and running. He says about ten ballots had to be placed in a ballot box and they will be run through the machine Tuesday night.

The Tradewinds Middle School precinct also reportedly had some computer problems Tuesday morning that caused some delays.
