Some Belmont County Voters Asked To Return To Polls (OH)
WTOV9.com. November 4, 2008

Belmont County Board of Elections officials are asking some voters to head back to the after a St. Clairsville renewal levy was left off some paper ballots.

The mistake affects people who voted at the J.B. Martin Center and the Thoburn Methodist Church between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Those voters should return to their polling station or the county elections board. There, elections officials will distribute a separate ballot so people can vote on the issue.

Officials said the issue question was not left off of absentee ballots.

After the problem was discovered, Board of Elections Director Bill Shubat had new, complete ballots delivered to the polling centers.

Mayor Bob Vincenzo said the renewal levy would provide the city's general fund with $48,000 for use toward streets, police protection and recreational services.

"It's very important that the levy does pass. It is a renewal and it will have an impact on our budget if it is defeated," Vincenzo said. "I have great faith that these citizens will still come through again."
