The election turnout was light, but Common Pleas judges still had to come down a little heavy at some polling places. At least two court orders were issued to keep poll watchers and campaigners in line.

Early risers looking to cast their ballots for Lake-Lehman school director found the wrong candidates on the ballot Tuesday. The candidates in Region 2 appeared on the Region 3 ballot and the candidates in Region 3 appeared on the Region 2 ballot, according to Leonard Piazza, director of the Luzerne County Bureau of Elections.

Officials report several polling places have had trouble locking the voting machines so Independent and Minority party voters only vote on ballot questions. Only registered Democrats may vote for Democratic candidates and only registered Republicans may vote for Republican candidates. All registered voters may vote on the ballot questions.

BELLEFONTE — County officials say voting is going well even though a computer glitch kept voting machines silent for nearly two hours in one Centre County precinct and human error caused several other polling places to open about 15 minutes late.

Flower Mound election officials did not return electronic voting machines until after 11 p.m. Saturday, causing a long delay in results being reported for municipal and school board elections, Denton County Election Administrator Don Alexander said.

Palmer Brown went to vote early Tuesday at the Catfish District of Blair Township, the Reservoir Church, the voting machines were not working. The only thing that came up when he tried to cast his ballot was "old election data." Brown was disappointed and concerned because he is a candidate for re-election as township supervisor.

Tuesday was a long, but fairly uneventful day at the polls for Lake County Election Board attorney David Saks. Shortly after 5 a.m., poll workers at a Hammond precinct called to report three voting machines left outside the polling place, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall on Kennedy Avenue, had been stolen.

A Greenfield mayoral candidate who lost by nine votes in Tuesday's primary is seeking a recount.
Richard J. Pasco, a longtime Greenfield City Council member, said he made his decision after learning that no vote for mayor was recorded on 29 of the 2,300-plus ballots cast in Greenfield.
