Technical Glitch Affects Machines in Clay County (AR)    Story Here  Archive

Nimmons and Rector voting machines were hit with minor technical problems this morning. Some of the machines had not been zeroed out yet from when test runs were performed. The test, for accuracy, is called an "LNA" test.

Optical scan machine failures are one of the leading issues facing voters in counties across Florida, according to Election Protection. Voters have reported malfunctioning optical scan machines and massive machine breakdowns in over 35 separate precincts and 25 counties in some of the most populous counties including Orange, Hillsborough, Miami-Dade, and Sarasota.

Thousands of voters in the battleground state of Virginia found themselves stuck in long lines today because of broken machines and inadequate polling site resources. To help move things along, some of them were reportedly given provisional ballots but voting by provisional ballot significantly lowers the chance their vote will be counted.

The system of counting votes at Hudson County Clerk's office has gone haywire tonight. According to County Clerk Barbara Netchert, the way things were supposed to work is that local town clerks were supposed to be able put the cartridges from the electronic voting machines into a reader and the information would be sent via computer to her office.

MANATEE COUNTY A software problem is preventing Manatee elections officials from counting nine of the county's voting precincts and two-thirds of the ballots cast during early voting. When the ballots are attempted to be uploaded into the county voting system, they get an error message that prevents the tallying of those votes.

The results of a vote on slot machines at Scarborough Downs won't be known until around Wednesday noon after a voting machine broke Tuesday night. Volunteers calculating votes at Scarborough High School are reprocessing nearly 12,000 votes after a memory card malfunctioned in one of the three voting machines at the state's largest polling site on Tuesday night.

Madison County officials thought they had all their bases covered going into the election. They extended early-voting hours to help deal with the avalanche of voters expected, and they’d done the standard testing of the tabulating machines. But then reality hit right between the eyes Tuesday evening when officials discovered that as many as 7,400 of the 12,000-some ballots used for early voting could not be counted by the machines. As it turns out, the coding on that portion of the early ballots was in the wrong position on the paper, tripping up the machines.
