Fairfax County, Virginia (CNN) — General Registrar Rokey Suleman said a handful of memory cards did not work when machines were started this morning. He tells CNN that new memory cards have already been sent out to those precincts with problems. He said a "very, very small number of machines" were affected, and voters at those locations could use paper ballots instead until the problem was corrected.

Kathleen Evanek, an 11-year poll worker, was setting up a new computerized paper ballot system for disabled voters in Districts 17 and 20 when she noticed it wasn’t calibrated. “When I opened it up, it already had two votes on it and it was supposed to be zero,” she said. “I don’t know enough about this machine to even attempt to recalibrate.”

Things must be going fairly well at voting locations as the complaints about voting glitches and other problems are relatively low. Unlike in 2004, when the Dispatch voter hotline rang nonstop during the morning hours, only a handful of complaints have been lodged.

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. Several voters Tuesday morning reported problems with ballot machines at metro polling places. One voter called FOX 9, saying the machines weren’t working at the church at 7200 Brooklyn Blvd in Brooklyn Center. When setting up the polls on the morning of Election Day, poll workers had some difficulty with the rather new technology. Last year, Connecticut switched to OptiScan voting technology and registrars statewide have been preparing voters for the change ever since.
